In the fourth edition of the Helexia Think Tank we look at the challenges of sustainability facing the metalworking sector.

How can this sector turn the carbon challenge into an opportunity for competitiveness?

Despite being a pillar of the global economy and one of Portugal’s largest exporters, Madalena Perestrelo de Oliveira explains that the metalworking sector has a "significant environmental footprint", and should therefore "be governed by a taxonomy, which can be a great advantage, as it allows the sector to align itself with global sustainability objectives".

According to the PLMJ senior counsel, who participated in this initiative, "the taxonomy does not translate into an obligation to act but encourages and promotes this path". It also highlights significant impacts "not only from a reputational and market positioning perspective, but also from a financial perspective".

This podcast by Helexia, PLMJ and Deloitte had ECO as a media partner and a case study was developed in this context.
